NBC has enlisted the talents of iconic US rapper, Snoop Dogg, to infuse a unique and vibrant twist to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games Coverage. The 52-year-old music legend is set to be on-site in Paris, contributing not only regular reports for the Olympic Primetime Show on NBC but also delivering exclusive content on the Peacock streaming service.
Snoop Dogg’s role transcends the conventional, providing insights alongside NBC Olympics host Mike Tirico and offering his distinctive take on the Olympic action. Beyond covering competitions and events, the rapper will explore Paris’s iconic landmarks and engage with athletes, their friends, and families, creating an immersive and captivating experience for viewers.
The collaboration commenced with a dynamic promotional video featuring Snoop Dogg interacting with Team USA athletes Suni Lee, A’ja Wilson, Jagger Eaton, Kelly Cheng, and Sara Hughes.
As NBC holds the US broadcasting rights for the Olympics until Brisbane 2032, the media giant, with a $7.75 billion contract secured in 2014, designated NBC broadcast network and Peacock as the primary platforms for the highly anticipated Paris 2024 coverage, scheduled from July 26 to August 11.
Snoop Dogg, shared his insights stating, “I grew up watching the Olympics and am thrilled to see the incredible athletes bring their A-game to Paris.”
“It’s a celebration of skill, dedication, and the pursuit of greatness.”
“We’re going to have some amazing competitions and, of course, I will be bringing that Snoop style to the mix. It’s going to be the most epic Olympics ever, so stay tuned, and keep it locked. Let’s elevate, celebrate, and make these games unforgettable, smoke the competition, and may the best shine like gold. Peace and Olympic LOVE, ya dig?”
Molly Solomon, Executive Producer and President of NBC Olympics Production, highlighted Snoop Dogg’s proven track record as an Olympic gold medal commentator, citing his success in generating tens of millions of views for his highlights commentary on Peacock during the Tokyo Olympics. She commented, “That performance alone has earned Snoop a job as our special correspondent in Paris. We don’t know what the heck is going to happen every day, but we know he will add his unique perspective to our re-imagined Olympic Primetime Show.”
